The Maker’s Quiet Resolve

When I began designing watches it was in silence. A sketch on paper, on tablet, on drawing boards through long days and nights. Often I felt there was much more to learn even when a prototype or a final piece reached completion it never felt entirely whole. The journey moved forward without audience or certainty. What remained was persistence until something spoke back.
In those moments I felt alone with disquiet. Yet solitude offered me space to listen closely to what I valued. That quiet shaped me and became the direction for Hitori.
For many years I collected Japanese craft. Vintage clothing, art, watches. The latter with Grand and King Seikos of the past and of today. Each one carried something that stayed with me. The proportion of a case. The restraint of a dial. The beauty of details that revealed themselves only through time. These watches in parallel with the act of collecting became teachers.

At the same time I worked quietly for other brands. Designing watches for limited runs and private projects. Always faithful to their spirit rather than mine. My name never appeared on the dial yet each watch left its trace. Layer by layer I learned how to shape something true.
What I want to share is that the journey was solitary. In that solitude I found authenticity. The quiet accumulation of knowledge and experience. All of it leading toward Hitori.

This story is not only about myself. It is about the connection between solitude and Japanese craft. About how beauty often emerges from persistence. From unseen hands of artisans. From traditions carried silently from one generation to another. That spirit lives in every watch we have made. The Habuka 39 with its natural elegance. The Meguro GMT with its layered sense of travel. More will follow. Each carries an original quiet charm. Not loud. Not chasing attention. Refined through restraint.
It has always been a personal challenge. Now it extends to those beside me, the Hitori team and our partners. Shaped not by external affections but by conviction. Watches we ourselves would wear proudly as enthusiasts. My passion is in refinements and details. To scrutinise every line and proportion until it feels right.

Through these years our aim has been simple. To let the quality and vision speak for themselves. Many collectors can vouch for this. They have felt it on their wrists. The watches find their place quietly.
Although I am not a native Japanese, our path is guided by devotion to learn. Years of study and experience have given us direction. Hitori seeks to capture the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship with its unerring eye for detail. While design is born from our perspective, every Hitori watch is hand assembled and quality checked in Japan. In the hands of artisans our vision takes its final shape. The blend of non native essence and native execution creates a charm unique to every watch we make.
Hitori embodies these values. A quiet persona. Details considered. Proportions balanced. Craft that rewards those who take time to notice and appreciate.
Hitori does not truly mean alone. In its stillness and wandering spirit it is never empty. Like a garden in winter waiting for spring.
